Недавно я прочитал очень интересную книгу – «Сказки Биг -Бена». В ней я впервые встретился с Брауни. Это небольшие человечки, ростом всего около двух футов, с коричневыми волосами и ярко-голубыми глазами. Из-за коричневого цвета волос их и называют Брауни.

Они ближайшие родственники домовых, но живут не в домах людей, а в норах недалеко от людского жилья. Брауни живут семьями. Они помогают людям по хозяйству: ткут, готовят, прибирают дом. Говорят, что Брауни помогают писателям, даря им сны с сюжетами для книг. Существует легенда, что они помогли известному писателю Роберту Льюису Стивенсону написать книгу «Странная история доктора Джекила и мистера Хайда». Сами Брауни тоже часто попадают в рассказы. Например, их можно встретить в сказках братьев Гримм.

Брауни любят вежливых людей. Поэтому, если вы хотите, чтобы Брауни помогали вам, позовите их на ужин и угостите молоком. Тогда они станут вашими верными друзьями и будут преданно охранять ваш дом.

Brownies – my favourite fantastic personages.

Recently I have read a very interesting book “Big Ben’s tales”. There I met Brownies for the first time. They are small people; about two foots high, with brown hair and bright blue eyes. Because of their brown hair they are called Brownies.

They are the closest relatives of goblins. But they don’t live in houses. Brownies live in holes not far from people. They live in families. Brownies help people about the house. They weave, cook food, and clean the house. They say that Brownies help writers, too. They give them some dreams with plots for their books. There is a legend that Brownies helped Robert Louis Stevenson, a famous writer, to write his book “Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. ” Brownies themselves often appear in stories. For example, you can meet them in the tales of the Brothers Grimm.

Brownies like polite people. That’s why if you want Brownie to help you, invite him to supper and give him some milk. Then Brownie will be you true friend and will guard your house.
